Lynda and Kirk chose a fall afternoon for their Acadia elopement. Blue skies stretched over the coastline, the ocean sparkled (like really really sparkled) below the cliffs, and their entire guest list consisted of their two best friends.
It was simple and beautiful.
Otter Point Elopement Ceremony
This Otter Point elopement almost happened at Otter Cliff.
When we arrived at Otter Cliff, the parking lot was completely full, which is incredibly common during peak seasons in Acadia National Park.
Instead of stressing, we pivoted to Otter Point, and it ended up being absolutely perfect.
We found a quiet ceremony spot away from the crowds, overlooking the coastline. One of their best friend officiated. The other signed as a witness. And since Maine requires two witnesses to sign your marriage license, I had the honor of signing as well!
Why Flexibility Is Essential

- The Park Loop Road is one-way
- Parking lots fill quickly
- You can’t easily double back if you miss your spot

If you’re planning an elopement with 10 or fewer people, you have more flexibility and can choose from additional areas within the park, which opens up more private and scenic ceremony options.

Afternoon Photos at Jordan Pond
After their Otter Point elopement ceremony, we headed to Jordan Pond for portraits and a little adventure.
The afternoon light reflected beautifully off the water, and the Bubbles framed the background perfectly. We wandered along the shoreline, stopped by the park signs (Lynda loves trail signs), and soaked in the sun.
Ending Their Acadia Elopement with a Sunset Hike
To close out their Acadia elopement, we went on a short celebratory hike with their two best friends.
They popped champagne at the top and toasted to being married as the sun dipped lower. It felt relaxed, adventurous, and true to who they are as a couple. The perfect way to end an Otter Point elopement day!

- Have a back up ceremony site if possible (if you have a permit, you’ll have to stick with your location!)
