Elopements

Two Lights State Park Elopement

Cassidy and Matt’s elopement at Two Lights State Park in Maine was the perfect reminder that small, flexible wedding days often turn into the most meaningful ones. With just a handful of guests, a couple of very loved dogs, and the classic Maine coastline as their backdrop, their day felt relaxed, personal, and intentionally simple.

A Flexible Morning Elopement at Two Lights State Park

Cassidy and Matt originally planned for an afternoon elopement, but Maine weather had other ideas. With rain in the forecast, we decided to move their coverage to the morning. This is one of the biggest perks of having an intimate elopement with very few vendors. Having that flexibility meant we could pivot easily and still make the most of the day.

The morning started out rainy, and we spent a little time tucked away in our cars waiting it out. Before long, the rain passed, the clouds lifted, and the sun even tried to come out for their ceremony.

A Coastal Ceremony With Their Dogs by Their Side

One of the sweetest parts of Cassidy and Matt’s day was how thoughtfully they included their dogs in their ceremony. A couple of close friends acted as dog handlers, which kept things relaxed and low-stress. Their ceremony was casual, heartfelt, and deeply personal, surrounded by ocean views and the sound of the waves in the background.

Family Photos (Yes, Even on Elopement Days!)

After the ceremony, we took time for family photos at Two Lights. Even on elopement days, I always make room for classic family formals. These are the images your families will want to frame and keep forever, and it’s always worth taking a few minutes to document them.

Once photos were done, their families headed back to their Airbnb to have lunch and relax before dinner plans. Cassidy and Matt and I continued on for portraits, just the three of us.

Quiet Portraits at Kettle Cove

Our next stop was Kettle Cove, and thanks to the rainy morning, it was wonderfully quiet. With fewer people around, we were able to slow things down and create relaxed, natural portraits without any interruptions. The moody coastal scenery paired perfectly with the calm pace of the afternoon.

Lobster Rolls With a View at Fort Williams

We wrapped up the day at Portland Head Light, where Cassidy and Matt grabbed lobster rolls with a view. The Bite Into Maine food truck at Fort Williams is a classic stop and the perfect way to add a very Maine moment to an elopement day. Enjoying lobster rolls overlooking the ocean and lighthouse felt like the ideal ending.

We may have ended the day with parking tickets, but it was absolutely worth it.
