Cape Elizabeth Elopement

When Sarah and Colin first inquired with me, they told me that one of their favorite things to do together was to watch the sunset at the beach. So, of course, we had to end their elopement day at one of my favorite beaches in Cape Elizabeth, catching the sunset! One of the best perks of getting married at City Hall in Portland is how easy it is to escape into nature afterward—there are so many stunning locations just a short drive from downtown. This Cape Elizabeth elopement gave off serious Noah Kahan Maine vibes, even though we didn’t make it to Crescent Beach State Park (iykyk).

City Hall Ceremony

We started Sarah and Colin’s day with a sweet and simple ceremony at Portland City Hall. If you’re looking for an easy yet meaningful way to tie the knot, a City Hall ceremony is a great choice. The building itself is absolutely beautiful, with its grand architecture providing the perfect backdrop for photos. The process is quick and stress-free!

Celebratory Drinks in the Old Port

After the ceremony, we strolled through the Old Port’s cobblestone streets, taking in downtown Portland’s cozy atmosphere. The mix of historic buildings, waterfront views, and lively energy made for the perfect post-ceremony adventure.

We ended up at Hunt and Alpine, a cozy and stylish bar that serves some of the best cocktails in town. Luck was on our side as we snagged an outdoor table. The staff at Hunt and Alpine surprised Sarah and Colin with a complimentary champagne toast, making the moment even more special. It was the perfect way to kick off their evening of celebration!

Kettle Cove Sunset

If you’ve ever been to Kettle Cove for sunset, you already know—it’s one of the best spots (if not the best spot) in Southern Maine to watch the sun go down. The way the cove is angled means the sun sets right over the water, creating the most breathtaking golden-hour glow. Even with the October chill, Sarah and Colin waded into the water, watching as the sun set over the cove. The sky shifted to shades of pink and orange while they stood together, taking in the quiet beauty of the moment.

Why Cape Elizabeth is the Perfect Elopement Destination

Cape Elizabeth is one of the most charming little beach towns in Southern Maine, making it the perfect place to celebrate after a City Hall elopement. With its mix of rocky coastlines, sandy beaches, and iconic lighthouses, it’s an ideal backdrop for couples who want a mix of adventure and romance.

For those who want to skip the city and have their ceremony right by the water, Cape Elizabeth has plenty of stunning spots, like Kettle Cove or Crescent Beach. Whether you want a quiet moment on the cliffs or to dip your toes in the ocean as you say “I do,” this area has something for every couple looking for a scenic, stress-free elopement.

Sarah and Colin’s day was a perfect blend of urban charm and coastal beauty, and I can’t imagine a better way to celebrate love. If you’re dreaming of a Cape Elizabeth elopement, I’d love to help bring your vision to life!
